Food is phenomenal!!! Highly recommend!!!! It is always fresh and cooked to perfection. And their pico is one of the best and freshest I've had in the area...and we're from Texas.
Lunch today at El Potro located across from the St Augustine School for deaf and Blind. I had the chili Rellono but unfortunately the breading fell off. Was stuffed with cheese. Beef taco good. Rather than beans I got rice and comes with a salad. Wife got the beef taco salad ok but she felt it wasn't well seasoned. Service good plenty of parking. We are still looking for a TexMex restaurant in St Augustine.
El Potro Mexican Restaurant, St. Augustine, FL My husband, daughter, and I ate here a few days ago. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! My husband is from Southern California and where we moved from in Southwest Florida. Let's just say they had some amazing Mexican food. Since moving here last, August we've been in a search for good Mexican food. This place did not disappoint! And to make things even better, their prices were pretty reasonable. Definitely try them out if you're in the area. This place sits on the outskirts of the historic district. Depending on your B&B or hotel, you might have to drive here. Service was good!
Crowded today. Still has the most tasty Mexican around. Great tacos and tamales. Also non alcohol beer.

Close to work. They have Mineragua! My food was good. Great service. Same corn chips all over town. They are thick for this Houston boy and not fresh made. That aside the food is decent.
Great causal sit-down spot uptown. The food is always hot and delicious. I love the guacamole, enchiladas verdes, and their take on Chile rellenos with queso. I've had mixed experiences with the service here, but I'd say it's pretty ok for how casual the vibes are. It's good for takeout too!
Tony and I had dinner at El Potro Mexican Restaurant in St Augustine Florida. We have been eating seafood all week and since we are in a town with Spanish Influence, we wanted Tacos...I was going to another restaurant but this one was much closer to Vilano Beach, so this was a better choice. Waiter was very helpful. He did a wonderful job and our food was so good!! Definitely would eat here again and highly recommend to anyone in the area. I had Grilled Fish and Grilled Chicken with beans and rice on the side. Great choice!! With an Iced Tea with lemon and lime. Tony had Steak and Chicken Tacos with Beans and Rice!! Of course a Draft Beer!!!
Portions were HUGE! Food was warm and delicious. The Queso was a bit runny but nothing to complain about. I had the taquitos, and I would order them again. Their menu has such a large selection too!
